Poems
My Son, God’s Man
by John Hargrove – September 7, 2002
This son of mine, so quickly gone
Much too soon, for my hearts desire
A son who loved all and hurt for them
My son who loved his earthly father
and longed for the peace joining the heavenly One!
A son who had his prayers answered
by the One, the Way, Our Savior
The true Son and Heavenly Father.
A father’s heart grieves at the separation
from his earthly son, and yearns nightly for
re-joining with my Savior and my son.
My son’s hugs were full of God’s all powerful grace
Full of love that heals and spans the empty space
in my heart, a love set apart, incomplete from dad…
This son of mine, was a gift from the Most High
this life is a vapor, the son was a wisp of love
fleeting like the flight of the morning dove
My son, God’s Son, together now in perfect peace and love
My son, in whose hands that all sons should be placed
Now rests in perfect grace, no hurt, no worry, big smile!
Live by Faith not by Sight, is the command and the claim I make
powered by God, and the Savior’s grace.
In loving memory of Joshua Blake Hargrove
Born April 9, 1984, went home June 22, 2002.
I love you Joshua and I miss you…
– Dad
Can’t wait to see you again!
but with God all things are possible.
